Jo Carson (Actor, Writer, Director, Producer), Fred Adams (Actor)

Earth Energy, Sacred Sexuality, the return of the Goddess as Gaia...a Continuum. This is a masterwork in the field of NeoPagan, Goddess oriented, Earth Conscious documentaries. It is also the life’s work for talented filmmaker Jo Carson. She has been working on this film project for over twenty years . In this sense it is an insider’s visual and recorded record of modern NeoPaganism in its most profound and meaningful expressions. Jo Carson is a film industry professional who combines deep knowledge of her subject with professional camera and editing expertise, producing a smoothly flowing cinematic dreamwork of natural beauty and spiritual depth. We are inspired by a lecture on personal attunement with land forms from the late Frederick Adams, surrealist painter and founder of Feraferia, America’s first Goddess worshiping nature religion. Lady Jo’s long association with Fred and Feraferia enabled her to capture rare footage of the master explaining modern NeoPagan philosophy along with presenting displays of his artwork. DANCING WITH GAIA is perhaps the best glimpse we will ever have of this magical time and presence. Jo then embarks on a Quest to reconnect with the Divine Feminine archytype that takes her to sacred sites on Malta, the British Isles, and beyond. We are gifted with further expositions of the sacred revival by noted personnalities in the Goddess Realm: Francecade Grandis, Cerridwen Fallingstar, Richard Feather Anderson, Dr. Serena Roney-Dougal, Monica Sjoo, Joan Marler, Alex Champion, Jill Smith and others giving us a full range of expressions on the theme of Goddess worship by those most deeply involved. All of this exposition is interwoven and enhanced with appropriate visual imagery and background music that makes it seem less a documentary and more of an unfolding experence. Lady Jo and her husband and co-producer John Reed have thoughtfully included a beautifully published 44-page book DANCING WITH GAIA, in the DVD case so those who wish to recover the knowledge, and left-brain process the wisdom from this dreamlike cinematic excursion can do so after the spell wears off. -review from The Seventh Ray, Book III The Green Ray by Poke Runyon 2011

Editorial Reviews

Jo Carson's Dancing With Gaia is a beautiful and inspiring film, which presents the Gaia Thesis in the context of ecstatic spirituality and sacred sexuality. As a long-time member of Feraferia, Jo incorporates rare footage and interviews with Feraferia's late founding genius, Fred Adams, whose visionary art and writings on the Goddess were a profound inspiration to early Pagan founders of the 1960s. Many other well-known figures in the Goddess community are interviewed as well, including Francesca DeGrandis, Joan Marler, Cerridwen Fallingstar, and the late Monica Sjoo. A lovely catalyst towards The Awakening! --~ Oberon Zell, Founder & Primate, Church of All Worlds

“Dancing with Gaia” is a magical, transformative film. Just watching it can alter your perception of the physical body and energy field of the Goddess Earth. Next time you are taking a walk or simply gazing across the landscape, you might find yourself effecting 'mystical fusion' with the local Earth forms, or making 'deep contact' with the Spirits of Place. If you want to engage deeper with the Consciousness of the Earth, there are a number of detailed but simple how-tos. What's more, seeing the exquisite works of these Gaia-inspired artists could energize you to start working on some of your own spiritually expressive projects! --Janina Renée, author of Tarot Spells, Tarot: Your Everyday Guide, & Playful Magic, and more.

”I was truly touched and even awed by your film. I don't think I can comment on it adequately until I've had a chance to watch it a couple more times. I really appreciate that there is so much substantive information to digest! For example, the info about henges and tracing the horizon line is all new to me and totally fascinating. The film was obviously very beautiful, and I was amazed how you were able to capture so many of the descriptions visually, and seamlessly connect vintage footage with modern. I especially loved when images were dynamically superimposed on each other, like the lace with the water, and the dancing in the flowering meadow. A visual feast, and with so many layers. I am also so pleased to have been introduced to Monica Sjoo and her work. It's so important for Pagans to become aware of our heritage - it seems easily lost among so many new books - and the film really brought me home in a new way.” --Drucilla Pettibone, Author and Fabric Artist

About the Actor

Frederick C. Adams (1928 - 2008) Artist and Neo-Pagan philosopher. Called the American William Blake Fred's surrealistic Goddess oriented paintings and poetic rituals were the heart and soul of reemerging Paganism in the Psychedelic 1960s and early 70s. Fred's elflike personality was perfectly matched by his beautiful and voluptuous consort Lady Svetlana - their sensuous Pagan style prevailed in the sub-culture until the rise of radical feminism which had no accommodation for glamour. Feraferia survives to preserve Fred's legacy for the eventual return of the amorous Goddess -- Evoe Kore!
